Books’ Theme Songs

Music assists movies by providing a sense of urgency, romance, or horror. It’s part of the sell. And if you really like the music, you can buy the soundtrack.

We’re first enticed with a book’s cover and blurb. Then we crack open the book, or “Look Inside”, and read a few lines to get a sense of the author’s writing. But wouldn’t it be cool if we could also click on an audio file to listen to the book’s theme song? Music is such a great way to pique a reader’s interest—an added marketing/promotional layer. So I thought it would be fun to pair some books with songs…and I even tossed in one of my books. LOL! I added the videos, but they don’t necessarily go with the book. I chose the songs based on the subject, matter and/or vibe of the book. 😀

If you’ve read any of these books, how do you think I did with the music, yeah or nay? Have you ever matched an existing song to a book?

Great topic. Sometimes I have heard a song and have thought that it would make a good book. Music makes memorable connections in the brain.
When you hear a theme song, you just can’t remove it from the movie-or T.V. show. I always wondered how the music in Star Wars would hold up had it been released on it’s own.

Leon, I actually have several posts where writers wrote a story based on one of their favorite songs. I think T.V. them songs stick with us for a long time.

What a GREAT topic for thought!! I have discovered so much great music from movie soundtracks. My current favorite would have to be the soundtrack for the movie “The Intouchables” composed by Ludovico Einaudi (highly recommend both the film and the soundtrack)

But I have never thought about the accompanying soundtrack to a book!! And that seems to be a tragedy because when we read, or at least when I read, it is as though a film is playing in my head. So why wouldn’t there be a soundtrack too?!

I must now give this more thought! But in the meantime, I will listen to the tunes you selected while I finish some work!! Once again you have provided wonderful food for thought Denise!

Burtonovich, I have too! I actually have a playlist of movie soundtracks. I so wanted to see the movie, The Intouchables. Unfortunately, it’s only offered on Amazon.de prime in French and German. I’ll have to look up the soundtrack. My favorite soundtrack is from the movie The Commitments. LOVE IT!
